Question #39 – How would you know if this is for you?
A simple answer to the question, as to whether apithology or humanity learning is right for you, is to try it and see. If not, for whatever reason, there will be a minimal investment of time and you may beneficially discover something about yourself and your own personal preferences.
However, generative systems do not work this way. The approach itself says we may have missed what this is about. Those drawn to the study of apithology, as theory or praxis, do so because they have moved past ‘guess and test’, ‘taste and see’, or ‘fail early and often’. The try it on once and discard it of fast fashion is not really compatible with a generative learning discourse. The benefit sought to be gained quickly, becomes elusive immediately. Another, better answer is required.
What we have discovered at apitholo is encapsulated by the expression ‘coming to’ apithology. While there is a humorous aside about us (as a species) collectively regaining consciousness, the phrase more accurately describes a felt sense that prompts an arriving. This prompting is rarely just an aversion to and avoidance of a world of depletion, isolation and desperation. It is instead a calling to its apithological counterpart.
At the time the humanity contribution question occurs to someone as a first inquiry, there are not words for what is on the other side of this new arriving. There is however a deep personal knowing that there is something more for you, as a unique person, to be responsibly doing. The more usual question of ‘how is this like me, and will I like it?’ becomes ‘how am I like this, and am I already a co-constructive part of it?'.
To say more about this topic is to take away some of the discovery.
Excitingly, this question is the centering focus of apithiolo’s (presently being held) 12 month ‘Calling Circle’ inquiry. The distinctive indicia of the personal unfoldments that reveal themselves in this question are, by our participatory practice, becoming increasingly apparent.
They are the markers in a personal choice for those ready to move into a humanity involvement.
