Questions to Apitholo #34

Further questions to apitholo, about apithology and humanity inquiry ...

Question #34 – Is the goal for apitholo to find the 'humanity contributive', or to have them find apitholo?

The inquiry into the traits of the humanity contributive (for whom learning at apitholo is for) has been ongoing for many years and continues. While leadership qualities in ancient and modern societies are replete with exemplars, the specifics of how humanity contribution is held, makes this inquiry unique to the field of apithology.

Because their path is generative, what has been discovered is that the expression of these qualities change in character with later integrations. So, in a sense the first part of the question is answered: 'Yes, apitholo is finding [out about] the humanity contributive, actively as an ongoing inquiry'. In a generative inquiry things (like traits) are not fixed, even once named.

Correspondingly, there is a concept from apithology practice, that apithology questions (like this one) operate like the sounding of a bell of resonance. We have noticed that those who identify as humanity contributive are called to this work beyond all other invitations. For opportunities to engage in humanity learning, being that which is beyond the merely entertaining or interesting, they respond and attend (well). In doing so, they ‘find’ apitholo and its informing and informative practices. Hence, we ring the bell. Others may hear it, but unable to perceive it (at this time), they may walk by oblivious.

There is a third (silent) part to the question. This is a more profound extension. There is one proposition that those who actually identify with humanity as an entity, rather than with other humans like themselves (possibly in other locations globally), are very rare (at this time). The goal may not be to find the humanity contributive or have them find apitholo, but might actually be to find how people might be called to potentiate this one-humanity virtue. In generative practice, this is how '... a space becomes a place’.

The attentiveness to the idea, that ‘humanity contribution’ is a universal human proclivity by virtue of our innate membership of humanity, is one to be discovered over and over, once the time is taken to listen and look well.

The practical question then becomes for those attending: “Can I see this, and can I see this in me?”
